"My Promises"
I am sorry for the way I act.
I know I can be a real big brat.
To get my way I pout, whine, and lie,
But you know, mom and dad, I really do try.
From now on I will do what you ask,
And not put up a fuss like I did in the past.
I promise I will not lie anymore,
Because, let’s face it, I’m no longer four.
I promise to start acting my age.
I’ll even try to simmer my rage.
When I’m angry I’ll try to lower my voice.
All this change is my choice.
I’ll try to be kinder to my sister and brother,
Because you want us to get along, my dear mother.
When you ask I’ll do my chores,
Even though they are a huge bore.
I know I drive you extremely crazy.
When I sit around on the couch being lazy.
I’ll try to stop the mean things I say.
I’ll just take it day by day.
